After sorting through a stack of resumes he found four people who were equally qualified….

An American, a Russian, an Australian and a Filipino.

He decided to call the four in and ask them only one question.

Their answer would determine which of them would get the job.

The day came and as the four sat around the conference room table
the interviewer asked, “What is the fastest thing you know of?”
Acknowledging Dave, the American on his right, the man replied, ” A
THOUGHT”.
It just pops into your head. There’s no warning that it’s on the
way; it’s just there.

A thought is the fastest thing I know of.”

“That’s very good!” replied the interviewer.
“And now you sir?” he asked Vladimir, the Russian.

“Hmm…. let me see. A blink! It comes and goes and you don’t know
that it ever happened.

A BLINK is the fastest thing I know of.”
“Excellent!” said the interviewer.

“The blink of an eye, that’s a very popular cliché for speed.”

He then turned to George, the Australian who was contemplating his reply.

“Well, out at my dad’s ranch, you step out of the house and on the wall
there’s a light switch. When you flip that switch, way out across the
pasture the light in the barn comes on.

Yep, TURNING ON A LIGHT is the fastest thing I can think of.”

The interviewer was very impressed with the third answer and
thought he had found his man.

“It’s hard to beat the speed of light” he said.

Turning to Eleuterio, the Filipino, the fourth and final man, the
interviewer posed the same question.

Eleuterio replied, ” Apter herring da 3 frevyos ansers sirrr, et’s obyus to me dat the fastest thang known is Diarrhea.”

“WHAT!?” said the interviewer, stunned by the response.

“O I can expleyn serrr .” said Eleuterio .

” YOU SEE SERR, DA other day I wasn’t Peeeling so good and I run soo fast to the CR or
bathroom,

But, before I could THINK, BLINK, or TURN ON THE LIGHT,
I already had a big tae, ka-ka or poo-poo in my pants.

Eleuterio is now the new “Greeter” at Wal-Mart.

As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag’s side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown.

The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, “What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That’s a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?”

The young boy was apologetic. “Please, mister…please, I’m sorry but I didn’t know what else to do,” He pleaded. “I threw the brick because no one else would stop…” With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. “It’s my brother,” he said. “He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can’t lift him up.”

Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, “Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He’s hurt and he’s too heavy for me.”

Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay. “Thank you and may God bless you,” the grateful child told the stranger.

Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy! Push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home. It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message: “Don’t go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!” God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don’t have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It’s our choice to listen or not.

Thoughts to Keep: If God had a refrigerator; your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring. He sends you a sunrise every morning . Face it, friend – He is crazy about you! Send this to every “beautiful person” you wish to bless. God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. Read this line very slowly and let it sink in… If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Reading is one of life’s vital skills, and nurturing literacy not just in the early years, but as well throughout life is essential to influencing a strong future for our families and societies. There are a lot of people who think of reading is just a skill that is taught forever in the early years of school. In this view of reading the credit for students’ reading skills goes to primary grade teachers and secondary school teachers at each grade level require teach only new vocabulary and ideas related to new content. Seen this way, reading is an easy process: readers figure out how to pronounce every word in a text and then automatically understand the meaning of the words, like what they are doing with their everyday speak language. This is not our thought of reading.

Nevertheless, reading is not just a straightforward procedure of lifting the words off the page. It can be viewed as a complex process of problem solving wherein the reader works to fit of a text not only from the words and sentences lying on the page as well from the ideas, memories, and knowledge suggested by those words and sentences. Even though at first look reading may seem to be passive, lonesome, and simple, it is in truth active, populated in a rich combination of voices and views—those of the author, of the reader, of others the reader has heard, read on, and otherwise encountered throughout life. We need to undergone a pattern to analyze what we are reading. This pattern includes finding relevant passages in the book; bringing the author to the subject’s terms; getting the questions clearly in mind; defining the issues; and analyzing the discussion by looking at all sides and take no sides.

Furthermore, reading concerns with communicating thoughts where speech or further means of communication, such as drawing, photography, or video, unaccompanied are not sufficient. Pictures do not value a thousand words when explaining imaginary ideas or when giving a thoughtful description of something rather than a surface representation of it. Most interesting ideas and concepts require thorough writing to explain, and sensible study to absorb.

Conclusively, there are so many reasons why we should keep on reading. But we should remember that it must be a pleasure and it should be intellectually inspiring, not just factually informative. Students should be more often get introduced to the joy of reading showing them that reading good works makes intimate friends with the most excellent minds that have ever existed – no matter how times past or how distant, not like watching TV, which too often simply lets us make friends to the people whose intellects and social abilities qualify them.
